Mercury Retrograde Blues?

Retrograde is coming.

I know, I know - they are the three most feared words in astrology, but I'm inviting you to look at it a different way as we get ourselves ready for it.

Last night, after treating my Mom out to dinner, we were on our way to get some donuts because it was Friday, and why not? And then it started drizzling. No big deal. Except, then it started pouring. Aggressively. Lightning, thunder, and the roads were really slick, and visibility was poor. Disappointed, we decided to go home instead. In an effort to drown out the sound of the rain, I turned up the radio. Chumbawumba's 'Tubthumping' was playing, and instantly we both started to sing it. Mom was giggling, "I love this song!" We made the best of the rest of the slow drive home, cracking jokes and laughing most of the way. No donuts. But, it's not like I can't have donuts another day. On the smallest level, this is what Mercury Retrograde is like; You make a plan, your plan changes, you adapt and adjust. We still had a good time.

Your plans may change. You may feel frustrated. But remember; it's just for now. It's road construction on a street that seemed fine two days ago. You might have to take a detour, but maybe it will be scenic. Maybe you'll learn that you have an amazing ability to adapt that you wouldn't have otherwise known. We can always take the pessimistic or cynical view, but you lose nothing by being open to the abundance of divine intervention. No matter what, Mercury in retrograde will show you something about yourself that you have forgotten, and it will force you to revisit something that you have abandoned, particularly when left unfinished.

Mom always reminds me that 'you never know what kind of blessing could come from a setback'. Try to see it as a dance; two steps forwards, one step back. No one said you can't have fun dancing, even if you have no idea where you're going, or what you're doing. There is always a bigger picture to remember. And if there are potholes in your road, that construction is going to make for a smoother drive later.

Mercury will retrograde March 5 – 28, 2019 in Pisces, but most of us are already feeling it, and will through the 31st.

In the meantime, make the most of the delays and finish those unfinished projects. Revisit those passions you left behind you. Take time to enjoy the moments with those people who choose to sit with you in the rain. And, keep an umbrella in the back seat. <3
